Still in Purgatory

Wow... So it's been forever since I've blogged, eh? I guess I just haven't really been in the mood. There's always stuff on my mind, that's a given lol... and I always think, "man, I need to blog about this!"... But then I just don't seem to be in the mood later on...

Anyway, this semester will be over in a little over a month!! Yay! Papers to write, exams to take, blah. But then on May 18 I'll be leaving for Istanbul with my sister :) We'll also be going to Budapest for a few days. Why the hell Budapest? I really don't know why... lol... I personally would rather have gone to Athens or Florence instead, or even Paris again! But at one point, we decided we'll JUST do Turkey and that's it. And after we bought our plane tickets, my sister decided on Budapest, and without really thinking it through, I agreed. And only later did it occur to me that we probably could've gone to Athens for the same price anyway lol... Oh well, we'll hit Italy and Greece next year, InshAllah =D If I have any money, that is!!

So after this semester is over, two more semesters to go. God, seems like FOREVER. At one point I was seriously contemplating getting a PhD. Who knows, maybe someday later in life. But for now, I've had enough school. I'm 25 and I feel like I've been in school foreverrr. I just want to get my damn master's and move on!! I want to start living a real life. Graduate school is like being in voluntary purgatory, for real. You're not an undergrad enjoying college, with a major that you believe will lead to a career (if you are not planning on going to grad school)... and you're not in the real world working, earning real money that you can use to enjoy life! Instead, you are stuck in this limbo, feeling like you are too old to be doing homework every night, taking quizzes, etc. It's seriously purgatory. I just can't wait till I finish in May 2009 InshAllah.

If only it weren't for the way the stupid NELC department at IU is set up, I could be done sooner. But oh well... Maybe something exciting will happen next year that will have made it worth it to be here for one more year lol... Let's see.

So, I hope you all are doing your part to help the environment. Recycling, even if it's inconvenient. Trying to cut down on your purchase of water bottles... 60 MILLION water bottles are thrown out EVERY DAY. Can you imagine what a difference it would make if people used re-usable bottles instead?? Or how about getting a water filter for your faucet? :) And use cloth bags when you go grocery shopping! And quite frankly, they are much better than paper or plastic. They hold more and are sturdier, so you wont have any more accidents if they put too much stuff in your plastic or paper bag and everything falls out while you are walking to your front door. :)

So, to those very few who still come to my extremely dead blog, thank you :) lol... Oh, and before I forget, Happy Nowruz to all the Persians out there!! And this year, I don't have a problem saying it because it does not conflict with Muharram :) Although I still have a few qualms about Nowruz being celebrated as an Islamic holiday, and ya'll know about that lol, so I won't start blabbing on about it here... hehe

Welcome back :D

I'm sure you'll miss studying once it's all over!

Istanbul in May! I look forward to a full travel diary. I didn't really like Budapest very much, though the buildings are nice- hope you have your camera ready and plenty of film.

Hello,

I live in the UK, as a student, but yeah, I go home once a while to visit my beloved..for example in May, inshallah.

Yeah, i am always wondering, how selfish are humans, how much they do not care about their religion..

Well, enjoy your time in Hungary, visit this place, if you are interested: in Buda, close to river Duna :)
